Praise God for the way He has designed the family! Though we live in a sin-filled world (see Gen 3) in which family relationships are far from perfect, we know that God has a plan for parents and their children that is far bigger and more beautiful than any of us can imagine.
Parents have received their kids for a very specific purpose: discipleship. While it may come as a surprise to some, loads of research in the sociology of religion suggest that the most important social influence in shaping young people’s religious lives is the religious life modeled and taught to them by their parents. Of course, this isn’t anything new. Children not only observe how their parents live, but they also tend to follow their parents’ example. While no parent is perfect, kids following the way their parents live is an essential reminder that testifies to God’s good design. By His grace, parents can embrace the responsibility and privilege they have been given as the primary disciple-makers of their kids.
We often tell parents, “disciple your kids as if no one else will, knowing that you’re not designed to do it alone.” God has called you to a great privilege and joy, but that doesn’t make it easy.
We want to connect you well to your church and your child’s educational environment to see your kids effectively reached and discipled for the gospel.
